Today's cards were inspired from a great adventure I took with a dear friend, Angie this past year....going Up, Up & Away in a hot air balloon in Medora, ND. I am very lucky to have such special friends in my life. I have been blessed to go to Medora for the past 3 years and spend 4 fantastic days Scrapbooking with friends. I get to hang out with 25 amazing people who inspire me, truely a trip I look forward to every year! Another great bonus, the weekend we go is also the Hot Air Balloon Festival, lucky us!

Advent Countdown

This Advent Countdown I have used for many years*....I thought maybe I would skip it this year and do something a little different. Well after many "Pleas" from the kids, I hung it up. Then the fun job was to come up with 25 fun things for them to do. Since they are getting older, I wanted to incorporate some bible verses with a little more meaning. Hope this will inspire you to make each day in December just a little extra special.

Advent Count Down

December 1st: (A Quarter) Equals 25 cents. But 25 also stands for the number of days until Christmas, when God gave us his best present. Jesus told about one woman's gift and the way she gave it. (Mark 12:41-44)

December 2nd: (Grape Gum) Grapes make Jelly and Juice, Raisins and Wine. Jesus didn't need grapes to perform his first miracle. (John 2:1-10)

December 3rd: Here's a smile! (Smile Stickers) A smile, usually expresses happiness. Jesus gave us many instructions to keep happy. (Matthew 5:1-10)

December 4th: (Gummy Fish) Fish! Well, if you were surprised to find these fish, wait till you read the story today. Others were surprised to find fish, too. (Luke 5:4-7)

December 5th: (Birthday Candle, make cupcakes) As you know we are getting ready to celebrate Jesus' birthday. However, Jesus talked about something else that is related to this candle...light! (Matthew 5:14-16)

December 6th: (Noise Maker) You can make some noise with this. But it would not have bothered a certain man, until he met Jesus (Mark 7:31-37)

December 7th: (Small snack & Multiplication Game) These would not go very far if you were really hungry, especially if you had to share them with your whole class. Jesus could make so much out of so little. Surely he knew how to multiply. (Matthew 14:13-21)

December 8th: (Cotton Balls) These Cotton Balls would be helpful in a thunderstorm, wouldn't they? We could use them to muffle the loud noises that thunder makes. We know someone who doesn't need cotton. Jesus can control the weather. (Matthew 8:23-27)

December 9th: (Map, Scavenger Hunt) Without this map, you would not be able to find the treasure. Don't get lost, loose the treasure! (John 14:1-6)

December 10th: (Soap) It's Soap! Do you like to wash? Behind your ears? Washing turned out to be a happy time for a man who met Jesus. (John 9:1-7)

December 11th: (Hearts, Make Cards with Hearts Stamped on Them) Wordlessly, they speak of love, don't they? Jesus spoke some commandments about love. (Matthew 25:17-41)

December 12th: (Crosses to Decorate) We use the cross to symbol, represent Jesus. Do you know why? (Philippians 2:1-11)

December 13th: (Ordinary Salt, project with Salt) Yes, Jesus related salt to us and our behavior. He also gave us some advice . (Matthew 5:14 and Colossians 4:6) **Notice that he doesn't recommend pepper.

December 14th: (Sand, sand art project) Don't try to eat it! It reminds us that Jesus knows something about architecture, about buildings....about building lives. (Matthew7:24-29)

December 15th: (Flowers, place on our loved ones graves) Flowers are pretty! Jesus used flowers to teach us a reassuring lesson (Matthew 6:28-34)

December 16th: (Raisins) Many Children are given raisins instead of candy for a snack. That's because they are health-promoting and a delicious fruit. Jesus told us how we can produce good fruit. (John 15:1-5)

December 17th: (Bag of different types of seeds we eat) Jesus told a story about seeds that man planted. Then explained it revealing it's deep meaning. (Matthew 13:3-8 and Matthew 13:18-23)

December 18th: (sing songs & bake Christmas cookies) Christmas is just about a week away. Sing songs to celebrate and sing loudly. (Psalms 100)

December 19th: (Stone, make bread) Can you change this stone into a piece of bread? Do you think Jesus could? Jesus was asked to just that. Do you know how he handled it? (Matthew 4:1-4)

December 20th: (Aluminum Foil) Try to smooth out this aluminum foil and use it as a mirror. It is hard to see your reflection plainly, isn't it? Many circumstances are hard to understand, but someday everything will be clear. (1 Corinthians 13:12)

December 21st: (Volunteer Bell Ringer) Mustard seed is the smallest there is! When it sprouts, it grows into the largest plant. Even the littlest acts of kindness can make a huge difference (Matthew 3:13-17)

December 22nd: (Bird, purchase a pet bird) We've learned that the cross represents Christ, but do you know what the dove stands for? (Matthew 3:13-17)

December 23rd: (Make Stockings) The treads that compose this fabric came from wool of a sheep. Jesus called himself a good Shepherd. Do you know who his sheep are? (John 10:7-18)

December 24th: (Marble, play Marble Game) Do you know what is sometimes called the "Big Blue Marble"....The world. God made the world for us. What does he continue doing to the world? Who is the world? (John 3:16)

December 25th: (Baby, we place baby Jesus in the manger) Jesus was born a baby, just like each one of us. He came to make the whole world happy! (Luke 2:1-20)

Tonight is my last minute push to get all my Halloween goodies completed for tomorrow....yes I know it is last minute. Luckily I started early on a few items or I would really be in a frenzy. I knew I was going to be behind schedule and doing a lot last minute things as I had surgery last week, but I figured I would be stuck to the couch and I could maybe work on a few things. Well, someone had other plans for me.....I slept for about 5 days straight, did nothing as I could hardly sit up for more then 5 minutes. I am thrilled to be back and feeling much better. Excited to share with you my new Stampin' Up Candy Wrapper Bigz L Die for the Big Shot. I made these cute candy box wrappers, filled with all kinds of goodies. I've enclosed everything from candy to money...Whoo Hoo! I made these out of retired SU cardstock as I made 100 of them. Plan on making more out of our current Christmas paper, can't wait. Like I said they are simple to make, the Big Shot does all the work of cutting and scoring. I made tags from misc. Christmas stamps I had around plus printed some sayings that were on My Digital Studio and punched them out. This project really made me appreciate what the My Digital Studio can do. Amazing!

I thought I better share some things I have been working on, along with a fun Halloween 12 x12 Scrapbook Page I did on a recent scrapbook retreat. It highlights Halloween 2008 when my mother in law was diagnosed with Stomach Cancer. Kids went to trick or treat her in the hospital, she told the kids she dressed up for them. lol It was last Halloween we got to share with her. As promised here is the step by step tutorial for the baby booties. They are super cute and so easy to make. Hope you enjoy!

Baby Booties

Tutorial

Wrap ribbon around cup about 2 1/2 inches from the top. I used 12oz foam cups, you can use 8oz for smaller booties. Then use a pencil to mark your line around the cup.

Here is the top of the cup after I cut it off. You can then use it for your pattern, like I did when I made my 50 booties, much easier then measuring each one. Just wrap it around the new cup and mark your lines.

Here is what you are left with, small cup. Next measure 1 1/2 inches apart, mark your lines and cut straight down about 1 1/2 from the top. I have to admit, I didn't measure each line down as I found as long as they were even it didn't matter.

Then take your hole punch and punch each side of your lines....don't go too close, because when you try to tie your booty...it will break the foam cup. I learned the hard way!!

Tie your ribbon....project complete!

I've been working on my daughter's Hello Kitty bedroom for months now....I finally broke down today and got some wall art done. I used my Hello Kitty Greetings Cricut Cartridge, which made them pretty simple. All the paper used is Stampin' Up cardstock along with the new Sweet Pea Designer Paper, which I'm so in LOVE with. I will be ordering more in the next week! It coordinates so well with her room. I used some old picture frames I had stacked in my closet from our last house, I hope to get them repainted white to better match her room tonight. I'm so excited one more thing to check off my to do list! Adison's room is almost complete!!

The title says it all...Welcome Home! May is national scrapbook month and I'm planning ahead so I can get this "Welcome Home" scrapbook completed. I thought I would share the cover with you. I used the "Good Neighbors" stamp set out of the Sale-a-Bration Catalog. This is a fun little set and I love the matching 6x6 paper pack....too bad I made this scrapbook 8x10?? It is hard to see the clouds I sponged on because of the lighting, but you get an idea. I'll bind the scrapbook together with the bind it all when I have it completed. Busy getting Valentine cards and goodies ready for the busy week ahead. Adison had to bring goodies tomorrow for school so I made Heart Rice Krispies on a stick....first time making these, I was pretty impressed how simple and cute they are. The twins also wrote out all their Valentine Cards, which was pretty fun as they "LOVE" to write. I also had time to make a quick card myself. This is my little "Penguin" friend...Enjoy!

I'm so excited for Valentine's Day after making this "Super" cute Mailbox today. I've been hoarding these mail boxes for a couple years now...I think I bought 50 of them at Target at the time. I've used a few, but for sure have a lifetime supply!! This Valentine Gift Set is a donation for a Silent Auction & Chocolate Fantasy Fundraiser for the Abuse Resource Center in Lisbon, ND. I was excited to use all my "New" stamp sets out of the Occasions Mini and I have to confess I LOVE our new acrylic blocks!!!! I can't get enough of them!! What I love is that our SU stamps are still rubber, but they go on and off these awesome acrylic blocks....Super easy to store!! The cases are amazing with the design on the outside, which saves me time when searching for a stamp set. Now if only I could change out my 300+ wood mounted stamp sets sitting in my closet. UGH! I was thrilled finally use my Echoes of Kindness stamp set for this sympathy card. Happy New Year! Hope everyone is settling into 2010. I'm excited for the new year and everything that it will bring. My first project of 2010 was a Sweet 16 Gift Basket for a family friend. I had so much fun making it! I even got so excited I forgot to take a picture of the matching card because I wanted to get it delivered. The basket included: Cupcake pan, plate, ceramic cupcake filled with chocolate kisses, cake mix, different types of sprinkles, frosting, note pad with matching pens, few cupcake goodies, book on cupcake designs, cupcake liners, "sock cupcakes" and can't forget a matching pink scarf. Yummy! (Scarf is hard to see as I used it for filler to keep everything from falling over inside the basket.) To tie everything together I used Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Paper from Stampin' Up. The Melon Mambo matched the basket perfectly! What a great way to start the New Year!

I saw these cute little lunch box tins at Dollar Tree the other day and I knew they would make perfect teacher gifts. Each tin has 4 3x3 Note Cards, Nugget Box and 30 gift tags. The colors on the tin were kinda hard to match with current SU designer papers, but I found a retired Scrappin' kit "Winter Bright" that worked perfect. I'm always excited about this, as I can use up some stuff I have on hand instead of always needing something new. I did purchase the new Ornament Punch and coordinating Delightful Decorations Stamp set for these tins, which I love. Support our Troops

This time of year it is more important then ever to support our troops and their families as they are separated this holiday season. My three little elves made up a care package for my Uncle, Col. R Fode who is stationed in Kosovo. They had fun making hand made cards, ornaments and goodies....we included a small Christmas tree, candy canes and a snowman photo frame. For an added touch I covered peppermint patties with one of my favorite, now retired Hostess stamp set "Deer Friends." If you know me, I have to stamp something!!! I hope it adds a little Christmas cheer to his deployment!

I have many fun Holiday projects I'll be posting in the days to come that I have been working on. Things have been crazy here so things are not getting posted as fast as I would like. Happy Holidays!

Today was such a crazy day, I felt like Turkey with my head cut off. (LOL) I had to get all the ingredients for my Thanksgiving Blessing Mix (Didn't realize how hard candy corns were to find after Halloween...grrr), attend Ashton's school play and conferences, assemble 40 treat bags, finish up the rest of turkey nuggets and flower arrangements and had to get the kids packed for an overnight at grandma's tomorrow. I'm finally able to rest a moment, ugh! Here is the recipe and directions for the Thanksgiving Blessing Snack Mix....enjoy!

Thanksgiving Blessing Snack Mix Recipe
2 cups Bugles brand corn snacks
2 cups small pretzels
1 cup candy corn
1 cup dried fruit bits or raisins
1 cup peanuts or sunflower seeds
1 cup M&Ms-brand chocolate candy
16 Hershey's-brand chocolate kisses

Directions:

In a large bowl, gently mix all ingredients except Hershey's Kisses.

Place 1/3 to 1/2 cup Thanksgiving Blessing Mix in small cellophane treat bags. Add one Hershey's Kiss to each bag. Close bag with chenille stem or twist-tie.

Print 4 copies of the Thanksgiving Blessings Mix printable gift tag or or bag toppers, or hand-write your own tags with the wording below.

Cut out tags, and attach one to each bag.

Today I'm posting a couple quick projects I've been working on. The first one is a Hello Kitty cup. I found these cool cups that you can add inserts into at the Dollar Tree so I thought they would make fun stocking stuffers for the kids. I plan on making several different themes....I'll be posting them soon, I hope! Then I finished up making some quick thank you's for Ashton. Yes, her party was over a month ago and we are just getting them out....a little late is better then never, right? I'm looking forward to the day I can get back on track and not feel like I'm 10 steps behind. I'm having a hard time adjusting to Thanksgiving being next week, ugh! I had great plans for getting goodie bags ready for the kids' classes, I better get moving on them.

Desperate Search

This was the most difficult card I've ever had to make, not that it was complicated by many layers or embellishments. It was difficult as I was making it for someone special, a family friend....someone who is desperately searching for her missing husband who vanished November 7th in Pierre South Dakota campground. Tonight as I write this, I checked for web updates on his status....I'm sorry to say his body has been recovered this afternoon from the Missouri River north of Pierre. They believe he had a seizure and fell into the water. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Wham family this evening!

I saw these the other day and I knew I had to make some. I used scraps of Retired Designer Halloween Paper I had on hand. These hats were quick and easy to make and they are just too darn cute not to share. Here is a great tutorial I found...I did make my circles a tad bit bigger as I didn't want to see the Peanut Butter Cups sticking out of the bottom of the hat. Yes, my OCD was kicking in...Enjoy!

More Trick or Treat Goodies are in the works for the kids to take to their Halloween Parties on Friday. I bought Mini Play Doh for Aiden and Adison's preschool class, used my favorite Halloween Stamp Set "Batty for You" to decorate them. I just matched up my SU ink to coordinate the color with the lids. This was very quick and easy....I even got the kids involved with layering and punching out the circles. I did have to use Sticky Strip to adhere them to the plastic lid, though. I also made a 2, 4, 6, 8 Acetate Box, which I filled with chocolate eye balls. I only ended up making one of these as I ran out of acetate....never fails! Then Ashton wanted to give out pencils to her class and I found these spider rings at Wal-mart that I thought would work great to hold the three pencils together. As I am sitting her right now I just remembered I have a cute spider stamp I could use to add a tag to each of the pencils sets...fun! I'll have to get right on that! I have lots more projects I have to get done before Friday....so, I better get busy!

I am finally starting to work on Halloween treats....we recovered from Ashton's bowling party last weekend and went right into the H1N1 flu. The twins got it Monday and took me down with them, I spent 3 days laying with them on the couch. I can honestly say we didn't move much! Ashton never got it and continued going to school, amazing! So, far no one in her class has come down with it....all the washing and hand sanitizer must be paying off. Way to go Mrs. Palczewski! The treats I made today are inspired by my chipboard Frankenstein treat boxes from last year. I decided to make goodie bags instead. These chocolate candy "body parts" are super hard to find this year, I used three candies per bag which works great. (Boxes took a whole bag) Plus these goodie bags are much quicker and as the Halloween Parties are fast approaching, I must move fast. Enjoy!

Bowling Shirts are complete and I LOVE them!!! My husband was so pleased he thought we needed to each wear one to the party. I can't wait to see my oldest daughter's face tomorrow morning, as I was having problems today getting the iron on's to print correctly and I was about to give up. I had today to get everything ready as I work tomorrow, I was really feeling the pressure. After I found the right software to download, which I was happy to discover was free, the process was simple. Yeah!! We decided to split the girls into teams and each girl will get a Green or White shirt depending on what team she'll be on. Each team will get awards and prizes, which I'm still in the process of working on. The goodie bags are finally together and I added a special laminated book mark for each of the girls with their name on it, with a cute little saying on the back thanking them for coming. It should be a fun day....I just hope Mom and Dad survive!

Party planning is underway for Ashton's 8th Birthday Party. We decided after weeks of deliberating on a Bowling themed party, after last year I was determined to have a party away from the house! We don't any more accidents or incidents in 2009! I made the invites last night with my Circut and SU's circle 3/4 circle punch. I printed the details on the back and used my SU corner rounder...couldn't have been easier! I was happy with how they turned out. I just hope the T-shirts we are making for all the girls work out that nicely.

Scrapbooking Memories

Things have been a little shaky in our lives this year....we seem to go from one major event to another. I didn't post the last major event as I didn't want to really talk about it until we recovered, I'm happy to say on Friday our house is finally back together after yet another water incident. (If you didn't' know we flooded March 22nd) On August 22nd, our 12th anniversary I was making a special breakfast for the family. I asked our youngest daughter to bring up some milk, she came running upstairs yelling...."it's leaking downstairs?" My husband and I run downstairs to find water pouring through the ceiling...our dishwasher was dumping water!!! Needless to say our house has been riped apart once again, the worst part is I did loose a lot of scrapbooking stuff along with piles of pictures that were stacked on the bar to save them from the first flood. (Some that will never be replaced) I was sick! Many tears were once again shed! I haven't been able to focus on my Stamping as I once was, which I have been very sad about. So, when my girlfriend asked me to go to Medora, ND to scrapbook last weekend I had to say yes! I'm proud to say I finished my 6x6 scrapbook for my kids of our journey with raising chickens, it has been such a positive experience through a very difficult year and I wanted them to have something special to remember them by, years down the road. The kids were thrilled and I was ecstatic to enjoy some R&R with some wonderful people, doing what I love. Enjoy!

Teachers have a big job and I love showing them just how special they are! So, today I started working on my first day of school "teacher" gifts. I made some quick note cards with my cricut today, using Doodlecharms & Base Camp Cartridges. I even embossed the leaf with my cuttlebug using a swirl emboss folder. For an added touch I sponged around the apple to show off a little more dimension, hard to see in photo. I plan on putting these in an small apple basket with some school supplies and maybe some fresh apples. It is hard to believe school starts next week....I don't think I'm ready!

I'm finally feeling like my self again, I've been sick for over a month and I think the doctor's finally have a handle of what is going on! Yeah! I'm excited that I don't have to have surgery right now, I'll know more in 4 weeks, but right now I'm enjoying getting back to being me!!

I kind of feel like a robot these days, just going through the emotions of life. This has been a very hard year for us and it doesn't seem to end.....to cheer myself up, I headed down to my craft room with a glass of wine and decided to try out my new Lots of Bots Stamp Set. Two cards I made today with my all time favorite In Line Color....Rich Razzleberry. What I love even more is the ribbon that coordinates, yummy! The new In Line Color Markers are fabulous...I've used them so much already, I could go on and on. Stampin' Up has really out done themselves this time. I just wish I had less going on this summer and more time to stamp!!!

Crazy Day

Today our babies turned 5, I can hardly believe it! Today has been filled with all kinds of fun stuff...we put up an above ground pool (Insert frustrated face), had big early morning breakfast with presents, spent the afternoon at McDonald's playland (due to rain) and now we are onto dinner and cake with family. Oh, I can't forget swimming in the new pool after dinner.....Brrrr!!! I'm sure it will be short lived be bring lots of smiles.

Due to the craziness of the day, the cards I made are cased from two splitcoast stampers, tomorrow when I have more time I will give credit. (Sorry) I just switched out either colors or stamp sets. The first one I plan on making with each of the new In Line Colors tomorrow, great way to show off our new colors and ribbon! Plus they were simple to make! Off to get the dinner out of the oven......

June Happenings

Wow I can't believe we are already into the middle of June!! I'm anxiously awaiting my SU package that should arrive tomorrow with all the new inline colors and sneak peek stamp sets. I can't wait!!! Our chicken coop has been completed, just needs a coat or two of paint. (Added a photo...just had to share) All my flowers and gardens are in...huge project! I still have my hosta garden to complete (Still full of rocks) and putting in a pond. Needless to say there is never a dull moment!

Today's card is made for my cousin who was in a horrible car accident earlier this year, had 65 staples in one arm and yesterday had to have major surgery on his other arm due to the bones not healing right along with muscle growing to the bone (took over 3 hours to complete the surgery), now he has another arm with 65 staples....from shoulder to elbow. He is truly lucky to be alive! I thought this might brighten his day! (Each of the kids made a card for him also)

Rainy Day Project

Putting the finishing touches on a chocolate gift basket and thought it would be fun to do a 4 card stationary pack with one of my all time favorite stamp sets....Like It a Latte, it has been retired. (Insert very sad face) Since it has decided to rain all weekend, I thought it would be a great day to stamp!! I can't even remember the last time I stamped all day, it was just what I needed. While I was stamping my husband was busy putting the finishing touches on our chicken coop...I can't wait to show off pictures, he has done an amazing job! We won't hear any complaints out of the chickens this winter in their new trailer house....insulated and heated.

Hard to believe my babies are going to be 5 in a few short weeks....freaks me out a little!! Anyway, as always birthday's are always a challenge for us boy/girl twins, to decide on a theme. Last year we had a Princess & Spiderman/Water Fun Party. Lots of water balloons involved I might add! I guess anything goes!!! This year believe it or not they decided to have a sports themed party. They thought it would be fun to play some basketball, baseball and maybe even do a mini golf course. We'll see how that one goes!! I guess they can't keep everything easy!! I got the invitations done today, just need to type up the details and add them to the inside and we'll be good to go....weather permitting that is. If it can snow the first week in June, anything is possible!!

Today is Jessica's birthday, she is a really great friend that I've had all the way back to elementary school days. We've always seemed to have kept in touch, which is pretty amazing when you think about how crazy lives can get. Well tonight we are meeting for sushi and martini's at the Bistro....I made her up something extra special for her office. Jessica is a message therapist and her business is called Butterfly Therapy. Throughout her office she has artwork of butterflies and I made this "Butterfly" shadow box in hopes it would fit in with her collection. (I hope she likes it as much as I do) I also made some matching note cards she can send out to her clients. Happy Birthday Jessica!

I'm sorry to leave everyone hanging this month....I'm still kickin'! I've just been a little stressed out with all the end of the school year stuff going on. I got a little overwhelmed....lost track of time!!! (I almost lost the whole month of May!!) Plus on top of everything else, I was busy baking cookies for Ashton's fundraiser she had at the Grand Prairie Rummage Sales....I'm proud to say she raised $120 for the Nastrom Family that lost their mom a couple weeks ago to a respiratory infection. (She left behind 3 daughters 2, 4, 5 years old ) Way to go Ashton!!!

Since it decided to rain all day, I got a chance to head down to my craft room and work on a couple Graduation cards. Yeah, for rain!!

Mystery of May Day

The tradition of the ancient Roman and Druid holiday of May Day has endured for centuries. It has been a celebration of spring turning into the pleasures of summer. Gathering flowers and branches became a tradition and "bringing in the May" became a popular activity on May 1. The giving of baskets became part of the festivities later in the evolution of May Day. Today baskets are often made by little children, filled with candy or flowers and then placed on people's doorsteps or tied to the door handle, as they ring the doorbell and dash away before they are caught. You can participate in this activity yourself by making a special May Day basket or using any small basket to fill with flowers to give to a friend.

This year I've made 48 May Day Baskets to share....the kids helped me fill them tonight. I covered half of them with retired SU designer paper I had on hand and the other half I just added ribbon "handles" to Dixie cups. (I thought the tulip print was cute and liked them as is) What can I say I was trying to save time, the stress of this week is getting to me. Although, I can't wait to spread a little cheer tomorrow! Happy May Day Everyone!!
